[For the record, he's keeping that letter for pretty much... ever. The smile it brings up on his face is aged cheese levels of dorky, and as he sucks air through his teeth, he pockets the Get Out of Lies Free card.
Something like this deserves the right moment. He'll have to keep this in mind. The ornament, on the other hand- that's going to hang from a knob of his dresser until the last day he's here on the moon base.]
[It's such a simple statement but 'perfect is boring' makes him think back to calculated errors he made, to keep from seeming too perfect, to give just enough humanity to his masks. And now that he doesn't know what he's doing at all, he only wishes he had room to pick and choose his mistakes, even if he knows he was never so perfect as to only make chosen errors.
Still, he knows it isn't what Ryuji means and that is what gets to him. If he had to guess, he means it something closer to, 'everyone fucks up sometimes' or something like that—even if his fuck ups have been, historically, much worse than the average person's blunders. The sentiment is what matters.]
You're welcome. I'm just relieved you liked it. Unsurprisingly, I haven't given gifts before like this. I wanted to thank you for yours, as well. I'm not sure even I have the proper words for it but... I am grateful to be on the same team as you.
[Accepting flaws is what makes you, you. Yeah, that's pretty much the sentiment behind it. Ryuji's not great with words most of the time, but the simple things to say are easy to say, even if there's a lot of honesty behind them.]
Yeah! Team AkeRyu blasting off again
Wait, no, that makes it like one of those fanfic pairings that Futaba was always talkin' about
You have to cover all your bases when you research something. And no, they weren't hentai forums. They were simply other fan forums. Or, sometimes, forums involving me. At least YOU had the pleasure of being so mysterious that people were guessing wildly, though there were certainly more popular headcanons. But oh no, I'm the one with a public face that had to endure the worst of it. At any rate I am not telling you about the smutty things fans write when enamored with celebrities. To say nothing of the more... questionable merchandise.
[Actually this is hilarious to him so he's happily being vague about it. Ryuji's mind can go wild about it.]
First of all, I really need to mention that it was you who decided on a pairing name for us and, also, which order you preferred. Which as we both have the misfortune of knowing implies strict sexual assumptions. It was not me that started that and I even tactfully ignored it. Akeryu sounds much better, by the way. Secondly, it really depended on the group or forum culture. But they did seem to think the punk of the group, if that is your preference to decide they meant you by that, would be more scorned son of a yakuza who left the family to do good in the world after seeing his father's work. I remember thinking that sounded stupid. He was usually tall and tragic, the one willing to dirty his hands but the others of the group wouldn't let him. He used his family knowledge to assist in tracking down targets and spying on them. So really, not you at all.
Oh man I guess you're right that's the secret all along, hold on, I'll ctrl+f all my personally written fic and replace our names in reverse so that it's correct
Here's an excerpt from my most recent one now that it's edited
"Ryuji blushes the color of a cherry blossom as he yells out 'HARDER! YOU CAN DO IT,' and Akechi takes the lead, grabbing on tight and twisting. No matter how badly Ryuji wanted it, it like, wasn't enough. They were also both getting really hot, because did I mention it was summer time? It was totally summer time. But with one last turn, Akechi---
[There's a dramatic pause here, going full on with gay chicken because Ryuji isn't afraid of nothing.]
--opens the jar of preserves for him. They have an awesome PB&J sandwich and live happily ever after. The end."
Well maybe not an excerpt but it's a work in progress. Make sure to signal boost it out.
Man, though, that does sound really cool in a tacky way. And also, kinda stupid. Is that what people really thought? A Yakuza boss' son? Shit, you can't even make this sorta dumbass crap up.
Even my fantasy self is disappointin'
Anyway, what was Akira's?
Edited (missing whole words here, got too wrapped up in my akeryu fanfic) 2018-12-31 06:04 (UTC)
[Oh Good Lord. Akechi is over here covering his face because he feels the exact same feeling as when he would be in Mementos and hear chains: pure dread.]
Well. I'm sure domestic antics are someone's fetish.
[And yet he refuses to sound like he actually was about to cut off his arm so the bracer would be less of a problem.]
But yes I agree. It is disappointing. So incredibly stupid calling it disappointing compared to you is a disservice.
[Look... Ryuji is his friend now so... Yes.]
Let's see our dear Akira was a mischievous, witty, flirtatious, confident thief, of course. You know the type of protagonist they were thinking about. He was born with an innate sense of justice that he inherited from his father, a former phantom thief. How that worked, I don't know. But they seemed to like the idea of a legacy to it. Either way, his father was murdered and he now steals the hearts of rotten people to cement the image of the Phantom Thieves as just in a cruel world. Come to think of it these stories rarely mentioned a mother. But the others were his apprentices, I think it was, something about being their senpai anyway. These were just popular interpretations, though. There were others. I used to entertain the notion that perhaps a member of the thieves themselves might be posting such misinformation to utilize their fan base. I've certainly done so. But I did discard that idea quickly.
[There's a keysmash that's apt to best describe the emotional pluck that's going through his entire brain as synapses revert, short circuit, and come back online. That's a lot to fucking think about, or rather, to know, and maybe it's one of those things he was better off not? Like, didn't curiosity kill the cat or something like that?]
LMAO nice
I can't believe you're dunking me like this, but it's awesome. Giving it a 4* zelp review on that one.
I mean... the MO kinda looks right. Mischievous, witty, flirty, confident. All that shit describes Joker when he's bein' Joker and not his nerd ass regular self.
Nothin' wrong with that nerd ass, I mean, that nerd ass is pretty much the best thing in the world, but, y'know. Still.
Surprised that Futaba wasn't more on top of this stuff. Maybe she was too entrenched in reading it to begin with, hah... if there was anything negative out there on her I bet it was hacked into oblivion. Wait, was there stuff on her? I mean, like... she took a pretty big support role after all.
[A keysmash. Yes. Excellent. He feels proud of that one.]
The 'nerd ass regular self' is the more important part, I do agree. But actually, I suspect she was on top of things. I don't have proof, of course. But I distinctly remember a troll who reminded me of her when calling people's headcanons lame. Especially hers, actually. Possibly because so many were adamant that if they had a hacker, he had to be... well, a man. Or if a woman, certainly a mature beauty. You know, like a movie hacker, basically.
Asking would make it obvious, though. So he will not ask.]
That seems about right. But honestly, for the most part, the rumours were all boring and baseless. I mostly read them so that I wasn't technically lying when I had to report on my research.
